Scholarship Program
Building Future Leaders Scholarship Program for 2024
Applications will be accepted starting June 1, 2024.
Applications must be received by October 1, 2024.
The Bob Feller Act of Valor Award Foundation, through the unique intersection of baseball and the US Navy, recognizes and honors those who support our nation’s service and uses the Bob Feller story to educate the youth of today on the lessons of citizenship, service to country and sacrifice in times of great national need.
The foundation’s ongoing mission is to acknowledge and support the sacrifices made by service members, veterans and their families. As part of this commitment, the foundation will provide financial support for students, service members, veterans and their spouses.
The Bob Feller Act of Valor Award Foundation has provided tuition assistance in scholarships and academic awards to deserving veterans and students of military families totaling over $48,000 since 2020.
Who Can apply?
For Students of Military Families
To be eligible for the scholarship under this program, you must be currently enrolled or accepted at a nationally or regionally accredited college, university, or technical/vocational school on a full-time basis and on a successful graduation track toward a vocational/technical, associate's, bachelor's, or graduate degree.
Eligibility requirements are as follows:

A parent with an honorable discharge and a DD-214 who served in the Navy, Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, or in the National Guard or Reserve Component.

Parent currently serving with the Navy, Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, or in the National Guard or Reserve Component.

Graduated or will graduate from an accredited U.S. High School or High School Equivalency/General Education Diploma Program with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale.

Awardees will receive the scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s nationally or regionally accredited college, university, or technical/vocational school.

Submit an essay of at least 500 words or create a short video on how you were inspired by the lessons learned from one of the 39 Hall of Famers and the four pillars of Citizenship, Service, Sacrifice, and Legacy to future generations. Examples of community service, letters of recommendation, or certificates from community groups, clubs, and charity organizations for whom you have supported in the past two years.

Special consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate leadership or mentoring qualities through participation in their communities' extracurricular or civic activities.
For Veterans / Service Members / Military Spouses
To be eligible for the scholarship under this program, you must be currently enrolled or accepted at a nationally or regionally accredited college, university, or technical/vocational school on a full- time or part-time basis and on a successful graduation track toward a vocational/technical, associate's, bachelor's, or graduate degree.
Eligibility requirements are as follows:

Veteran with an honorable discharge or currently serving with the Navy, Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, National Guard or Reserve Component.

Graduated from an accredited U.S. High School or High School Equivalency/General Education Diploma Program with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale.

Awardees will receive the scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s nationally or regionally accredited college, university, or technical/vocational school.

Receive less than 100% VA Benefits toward higher education.
Provide a copy of the Financial Aid Package at the intended Institution

Attach documentation showing academic achievement through military or civilian education, participation in community service, honors, letters of appreciation, and recommendations.

Special consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate leadership or mentoring qualities through participation in their communities' extracurricular or civic activities.
Additional Requirements needed:
For Veterans:
Honorable discharge with a DD Form 214 or NGB-22 for National Guard or DD Form 256 for Reserves
For Service Members:

Medically retired, wounded, or fallen spouse (must be due to a service-related wound, illness, injury, or death that occurred after September 11, 2001).
