2017 Nominee – Hunter Strickland

Hunter Strickland

Team: San Francisco Giants
Position: Pitcher

Raised in a military family, San Francisco Giants Pitcher Hunter Strickland has made it his focus, during his three years in Major League Baseball, to support our nation’s military service men and women and their families. Since childhood, Hunter has developed strong ties to the military, with his father serving in Vietnam and his grandfather serving in World War II. Hunter has been active with the Navy SEAL Foundation, an organization that provides immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and their families. He has hosted Navy SEALS and their families, at the ballpark on many occasions. During these meet and greets, Hunter shares his passion for the military and befriends those who are in need of support and comfort.

Since Hunter launched Spread Crushers LLC, he and his staff have hosted veterans on hunting trips and provided them with opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Hunter’s ability to connect with veterans and uplift those around him is truly inspirational. As a teammate of Jake Peavy’s from 2014-2016, he supported Jake’s involvement with the USO and the Transition 360 Alliance, a program that assists U.S. military personnel and their families transition into civilian life after their service ends.

Throughout the 2017 season, Hunter will continue to represent the Giants when military members and their families visit AT&T Park. Hunter’s determination to assist veterans, combined with his compassion and excitement for helping others, is an inspiration to everyone who meets him – especially those who serve our country.
